Hi all. I thought I would attempt a blog entry. I'm sitting here listening to Harry Manx and the album "Mantras For Madmen" which is kinda like Blues meets Indian ragas meets acoustic Folk meets a whole dollop of impeccable melodies. It's gorgeous is what it is.
I was going to head up to London later today to Hyde Park to watch a day of free music and workshops but instead I'm going to head off locally to do some voluntary work. I've been helping out there for a little while now and it's good for me. I'm getting fit, I've shed over a stone and lost 7 belt notches which I'm pleased about. I'm a 32 inch waist again - yay! Didn't think I'd see that size again.
I've been having driving lessons and aside from one lesson where I forgot everything I'd been taught it's been fun though ploughing into that bus shelter and killing all those people last week could and should have been avoided
Still, I'll learn.
I was looking round the BBC website tonight and am amazed at how much you can watch/listen to again - it's brilliant. I've seriously gotten into the satirical panel game Mock The Week since I returned and Would I Lie To You? hosted by Angus Deayton. Okay, he made a few mistakes which he was crucified in the media for but it's good to see him back on the box in something reasonably good.
Gee, the mohan veena is a beautiful sounding instrument ![]()
Thank you Rachel - expect a visit in the next little while :-)
TVM. I've just put the Mantras on.
Hi Phil. It's a nice album, I listen to it several times daily. Tracks 3
& 4 are my favourites I think. His voice is vaguely reminiscent of Kelly
Joe Phelps but his playing is all his own, it's out of this world. I
burned this CD for a friend and every time I see him he's got it playing in
the background :-) I also burned the album featuring his Mentor and
Master, Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, so that you had the comparison. I believe
there are only about 20 official Mohan Veenas in the world, the stringed
instrument they both play. There are some cheap rip-offs but apparently,
these don't play well at all.
